About Letisha

I love happiness, good health, and I am a wellness enthusiast who is currently creating a conscious food business formerly known as Nutriful now Frooted - Feel Good All Over! As CEO of Frooted, I want to help restore balance in our bodies, communities, and the environment though making nutritious, gut-friendly and mood enhancing foods. Through looking after our gut, one of the many benefits is that it improves our digestion and allows us to absorb more nutrients which can go towards growing healthy hair! I support a conscious world, where we are aware about what we put in our bodies, the planet and how we treat one another.

I have always had natural hair, however when I was younger, I permanently dyed my hair browny gold. It initially looked great, however it quickly started breaking and became a lot drier. This was because I was not aware of right hair practises, methods, and potential consequences for different hair styles. I lacked hair education, as my family had a different hair texture and there were not enough females who embraced their natural hair around me. I cut off most of my hair and decided to research as much as possible into natural ingredients and methods of how to take better care of mine, so that I can be that role model I desired for my sister. I really want to encourage her and others like us to embrace our natural beauty and not feel like we have to neglect or cover up our hair based on the environment we live in or lack of hair health knowledge we may possess.

“ Being the face of the Project Embrace was amazing, because I got to communicate the message that collectively we can change society’s norms and educate others to make more informed responses when they see our hair textures.”

I was honoured to be a part of this campaign, as I 100% believe in its cause. As a young ethnic girl with thick kinky tight coiled hair, this is what I’ve always wanted to see on the streets. Role models embracing their natural hair texture and features and in doing so, showing us it is beautiful and we should feel the same way. Being the face of the Project Embrace was amazing, because I got to communicate the message that collectively we can change society’s norms and educate others to make more informed responses when they see our hair textures.

Having my face on billboards made me feel so lucky and has given me a higher sense of responsibility. It encouraged me to continue sharing with more people the benefits of living a clean lifestyle and taking holistic approaches to not just our hair, but also our bodies. It also empowered me to delve deeper into hair health and research further into ingredients and hair practices, so that I can better my knowledge to a standard where I can challenge society’s perception on afro hair regardless of where I am.

Ultimately, we should all feel proud of who we are, and where we came from. We are all beautiful and I hope the #Afrovisibility  campaign continues reaching as many people as possible so they too can feel the same way!
