About Ronald McCalla
I am a data analyst. I provide management info to help monitor how a business is doing so management can make informed strategic decisions and not just go on gut feeling. I spend majority of my day playing with MS Excel.
As I have worked in a lot of financial institutions, I feel that there are lots of jobs that I have applied for that I would have got if I didn’t have my natural hair. This is not something that I can prove, but there are interviews I’ve had that have gone extremely well and I’ve just been given what I would call a lame excuse for why I haven’t got the role.
“I decided to be a model for Project Embrace on a whim, but am very glad and proud that I did. I think there is a price to pay, both in terms of physical health and mental health, for pursuing hair ideals that are not natural to your own hair type.”
I decided to be a model for Project Embrace on a whim, but am very glad and proud that I did. I have three daughters and it is very important to me that they appreciate and embrace the beauty of their own natural hair. I think there is a price to pay, both in terms of physical health and mental health, for pursuing hair ideals that are not natural to your own hair type.
I want everyone to see us in all aspects of society with our natural hair and it not to be something that is out of the norm. Showing examples of people with their natural hair in different professional capacities is vitally important, not just for our people wondering what is acceptable for their hair, but also for wider society to see that our natural hair is the preferred option.
