Project Embrace billboard campaign has been going for 3 years in 2017, 2018 and 2019. We have seen women just like you take centre stage on 100 billboards across the UK and even crossed over into international waters having been featured at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in 2018, thanks to Clear Channel UK, our billboard sponsors for 2018 and 2019.
Representation matters. We at Project Embrace know that there can and should never be a stop to celebrating the hair of black women, so despite the situation with COVID-19, we are back but this time we are taking the selection process online.
The Afrovisibility2021 campaign selection process will be in two stages. The first stage will be from the month of August till December 2020, and 3 winners will be selected each month by number of votes. The second and final stage selection will be by a panel of judges. This way you will not be restricted by space and we can get even more representation. You don’t have to have any professional modelling experience, all we ask is that you wear your OWN natural afro hair texture, and be confident enough to be filmed and photographed. Of course if you are a model you are also welcome to apply!
Project Embrace is set to repeat the success of last year and take it to even greater heights in 2021. And we want you to be part of it! We want to feature YOU in our new billboard campaign poster.
Join us in dismantling the associated discrimination and bias black women and girls face at school, in the workplace and society at large because of the narrative around black hair. Join us in uplifting black women and girls all around the world to know that they can say, I. Am. Enough in whatever situation or environment they find themselves. The representation of black women’s authentic beauty is important now more than ever.
